A few weeks ago we wrote about the new line from CND called ‘Creative Play’, encouraging you to combine playful colors and textures to create the manicure of your dream. Today I have a review of the new 3-step system and the color ‘Hottie Tomattie’ as well as some swatches of how they looked on my nails.
First off, the system requires three steps, so if you only have a polish color and not the base coat and top coat, you won’t get the optimal manicure. I loved the base coat so much on its own that I would happily wear it as a very sheer nude color! (See below). It applied smoothly and dried quite quickly, I did a bit of a sloppy job with the base coat, so some nails took longer to dry as the base layer was a bit too thick. Whoops!
Once the base coat was dry, I applied a thin coat of the color ‘Hottie Tomattie’ to my nails and oh my, this color is amazing! It’s between a guava and a bright red, the perfect shade for Summer (I’m rocking it in a Sydney Winter and it still looks amazing). It applied so beautifully and fulfils the promise of smooth application with high gloss and pigment. The color applied almost perfectly in the one coat, but once that dried I painted a second coat and it just perfected the manicure. Normally when painting my nails I use a cuticle pusher or a paintbrush dipped in remover to perfect the edges, but because this brush is so precise I didn’t even need to, I was seriously gobsmacked. The top coat added another level of glossiness to just perfect what was an already pretty gorgeous manicure and it dried so quickly as well!!
See what I mean? This polish is just gorgeous!
I have been wearing this for 5 days so far and have only one minor chip and a little bit of wear on the edges of my nails but other than that it looks the same as it did when I painted it. That is the most staying power I have ever experienced on a polish that hasn’t been set by gel light. Even though the idea behind this line is that you can change it quickly and constantly, if you want your manicure to last that little bit extra than a regular manicure I totally recommend this!
Seriously, this polish system is amazing! I had so many compliments on not only the amazing color, but how it looked like I had a shellac manicure. This new line totally lives up to the hype of its’ older siblings- Vinylux and Shellac- and I can’t wait to get my hands on some more colors!
What do you think of the color? Have you got any of the ‘Creative Play’ line? Comment below!
