You know that feeling when you are so exhausted that you can hardly stand let alone walk? Well, that was me when I decided to do my latest salon review.
You see I had just finished a ridiculously busy week working on a digital marketing campaign for a very prominent public figure and had numerous product launches going on at the same time. It was a great week, but I was shattered. I had another high profile outdoor event to attend on the weekend (which despite my tiredness I was looking forward to) and my nails were looking rather neglected. I needed a salon that was able to get me in and out in less than 30 minutes.
Spa 34 Inc. on 34th street in New York City was the perfect place for this. They had two nail technicians working on me simultaneously and I honestly think this was the quickest mani-pedi that I have ever encountered. It was awesome! Did I feel pampered and relaxed? Absolutely not, but I was thrilled with the end result of “almost perfect” nails.
This was the first time I had taken my own nail polish to a salon, I am feeling rather concerned about all of the toxic polishes of late. My favorite polish range at the moment would have to be Zoya. They not only have staying power and last a full week without chipping but they are formulated with a 10-free formula. That’s right, they have no nasties such as formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, dibutyl, phthalate, toluene, camphor, TPHP, parabens, xylene, ethyl tosylamide, and lead. I know, right? I can’t even pronounce these names, let alone spell them:)
I choose my standard red polish for both my fingers and toes – Red Sooki. This was a clean, friendly and accommodating salon. If I had more time, I am sure I would have had a relaxing experience. I was just so happy to have found somewhere that was quick so I could race home to bed. I know – so boring being in bed by 9 PM on a Friday night. Oh, how my life has changed!

Ambience: Efficient vibe maybe because I was in such a rush.
Cleanliness of salon: It was a large salon and seemed to be clean (not spotless or immaculate but clean).
Polish: Manicure and Pedicure: I used my own Zoya’s Red Sooki polish. Retails $10.
Polish job & chip factor: It was an “almost perfect” polish job. My fingers lasted 7-days and my toes 3.5-weeks!!
Color range: Vast selection of polish colors, they stocked Essie, OPI, OPI GelColor and Color Club.
Customer engagement: They went above and beyond to help me. Their staff was very friendly and efficient.
Price range: Mani and pedi: $28, Manicure $12, pedicure $22, Spa Manicure $25, Spa Pedicure: $38-$68.
