I’m not sure about you guys, but for me one of the hardest parts of having a large nail polish collection is figuring out the best way to store it! Every girl is sure to have had the experience of losing their favorite polish and then finding it weeks or months later, only to have it become unusable due to the colors separating and the once smooth polish turning into a goopy mess! Or if you’re slightly unorganized like me; losing polish and just never finding it. That’s why the Pedicure team have spent some time researching quirky and fun ways to store and organize your polish collections so that you never lose another polish again! We’ve found some DIY solutions and some from Ikea and Amazon for those less confident in their DIY skills.
Solution 1: Magnet Board
This cute tutorial from DropDeadGorgeousDaily is a great way to store your polish collection in your bedroom, but is also a really great feature for a wall. Because of the way the polishes are stored it also means you won’t have to dig through all your polishes to find the one you want (a major plus in my mind)!
Solution 2: Spice Racks
These awesome BEKVÄM racks from Ikea are made from birch wood so they can be painted different colors and can either be mounted on a wall or on the side of a closet or bookshelf.
Solution 3: Traditional Polish Racks
These two racks from Amazon (here and here) hold between 90 and 100 bottles of polish and can be mounted on the wall. The plastic one is a cheaper alternative if you’re on a budget, but the metal one is available in multiple colors and can hold more polish if you’re willing to spend the extra money.
Solution 4: Hanging Accessory Divider
If the racks available from Amazon are too large and spice racks are too small, hanging accessory dividers can be mounted on the inside of a wardrobe door using Velcro tape or double-sided tape, or hung from a hook. This can be a more subtle way of displaying your polish if you’re not into displaying it so obviously on your wall.
Solution 5: Plastic Boxes
Last but not least these plastic LEKMAN boxes from Ikea are great, and like most Ikea products, super affordable! A few pointers to remember when storing your polishes – always store your collection in a cool, dry place that is kept away from excessive heat, humidity or any fire. Also your polishes should always be kept upright and should be shaken every so often to prevent the colors from separating. – Mette Jorgensen Note: The image at the top of the story is the personal nail polish collection of our Editor, Elise Wright. Or rather, it WAS her collection. She got rid of most of them before she moved to New York. No, she doesn’t want to talk about it.
